Employee OCB refers to voluntary actions taken by employees that go beyond their formal job responsibilities and contribute to organisation’s over-all well-being. Based on the social exchange theory of George Homan, this study employs a mixed design of ex-post-facto and cross-sectional survey techniques to collect data from 303 employees of Cable TV network sampled for the study. The findings showed that there is no significant difference in the reported OCB of digital department participants and the call centre department. It was established that workers in the hybrid working arrangement reported greater OCB than those working in the traditional work arrangement workgroup setting. Involvement dimensions of work culture significantly jointly predicted workers OCB: specifically, team orientation accounted for about 21.1% of the observed variance in employees OCB. Likewise, the consistency dimensions of work culture jointly predicted employee OCB. It was also established that adaptive dimension of work culture significantly predicted employees OCB, while the mission dimension failed to predict OCB. The findings in the study underscored the importance of maintenance of positive work culture to promote positive workplace attitude among the employees. The paper concludes that unfavorable workplace culture has significant behavioural implications for employee extra-role behaviour. The paper recommended that organisations should enact policies that will foster a positive work culture, encourage teamwork, collaboration, and open communication to promote extra-role behaviour. The findings were discussed in the light of extant literatures.
2025-07-16T20:12:05+00:00 Copyright (c) 2025 Nigerian Journal of Management Studies https://njms.unilag.edu.ng/article/view/2656 Procurement Efficiency through Technology Integration in Edo State 2025-07-16T20:23:47+00:00 Irughe R. A questionnaire was utilized to acquire primary data from 102 respondents, offering insights into their perspectives of these technologies. Findings of the study revealed a substantial positive association between SEO, EPA, AIP, and procurement efficiency, with AIP demonstrating the most significant benefit. Conversely, BTP showed a negative effect on procurement efficiency, indicating issues in its acceptance or execution. Multiple regression studies demonstrate that the combined components of SEO, EPA, AIP, and BTP explained a large percentage of the variation in procurement efficiency (R² = 0.986). Based on these outcomes, the research proposes boosting IT infrastructure, expanding AI and blockchain usage, and resolving hurdles to e-procurement acceptance. The study adds to the expanding body of information on digital transformation in procurement and gives practical advice for firms wishing to enhance their procurement processes via technology.
2025-07-16T20:23:47+00:00 Copyright (c) 2025 Nigerian Journal of Management Studies https://njms.unilag.edu.ng/article/view/2657 Economic Freedom and Economic Growth in Nigeria 2025-07-16T20:35:56+00:00 Abiola L. AINA Al.aina@acu.edu.ng Olubunmi I. OLAIFA Al.aina@acu.edu.ng
Nigeria has consistently pursued sustainable economic growth, aligning with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), yet challenges such as regulatory inefficiencies and market distortions persist. Economic freedom, which includes trade openness, property rights, and investment policies, is considered a crucial driver of growth, but its precise impact in Nigeria remains unclear. This study investigated the effect of economic freedom on economic growth in Nigeria from 1980 to 2023. The Autoregressive Distributed Lag (ARDL) model and the frequency domain Granger causality test were employed for the analysis. The findings revealed that economic freedom had a negative and significant impact on economic growth in both the short run and long run, suggesting that increased economic freedom may have led to market inefficiencies, regulatory weaknesses, and unequal wealth distribution, which hindered overall economic performance. Furthermore, the causality test showed no evidence of a causal relationship between economic freedom and economic growth in Nigeria, indicating that neither variable drives the other. Based on these findings, the study recommended that policymakers focus on implementing balanced regulatory frameworks that promote economic freedom while ensuring effective market oversight, fair competition, and institutional stability to foster sustainable economic growth.
2025-07-16T20:35:56+00:00 Copyright (c) 2025 Nigerian Journal of Management Studies https://njms.unilag.edu.ng/article/view/2658 Total Quality Management (TQM) and Customer Satisfaction 2025-07-16T20:48:44+00:00 Eretan Gbenga OLOGBON eologbon@unilag.edu.ng Omotoso Kazeem ADEKUNLE eologbon@unilag.edu.ng
This study examines the relationship between Total Quality Management (TQM) practices and customer satisfaction, with a focus on Coca-Cola Bottling Company.
